Posted on July 04, 2025

Our students have been busy stepping beyond the virtual classroom to gain hands鈥憃n industry skills. From sorting donations in a bustling op shop to servicing vehicles and tending butterfly gardens, they鈥檙e putting their learning into practice and discovering new career pathways. Read on for their firsthand reflections and key dates for families.
Work Experience Spotlight
Students at 麻豆果冻传媒 can complete work experience placements to 鈥済et a taste鈥 of different industries and build confidence in the workplace. Here are two recent stories:
"I did work experience and still doing it at a Salvos Op Shop. It's been great and the people I work alongside are just as equally great to be around. My task is the back warehouse part of the store so I go through the donations and do that stuff out the back. Since working there I have noticed my social skills have increased and I get the experience in working in a workplace and how to 'operate safely in a workplace environment with others.' So I have definitely built social skills by being in the workplace."

"I went to the Northeast Auto Group where I got to follow under different people in different areas of the workshop seeing how things happened, from the service and repair section, to where I spent the most time in the PD (Pre鈥慸elivery) section. This is where I got to learn things like inspection procedures and methods used to service vehicles. I also got to help with tasks like checking and changing fluids, installing and setting up accessories, checking & adjusting tires, bolts and alignments.
I had fun working and learn there, the people I got to learn from were great and the whole thing helped me better decide where I want to go forward."

Vocational Education & Training (VET)
麻豆果冻传媒 students are currently enrolled in a wide range of VET programs, including Animal Care, IT, Screen and Media, Early Childhood Education and Care, Construction Pathways, and more.
"I have been working towards my Certificate II in Horticulture at TAFE, and it's been both fun and challenging. I've really enjoyed the hands鈥憃n learning and the chance to spend time outdoors working with plants. Although some parts have been hard work, the experience has been incredibly rewarding. One of the best parts of doing VET is being able to apply what I鈥檝e learned directly into my own life, whether it鈥檚 gardening at home or understanding how to care for different plants properly. It鈥檚 given me valuable skills and confidence that I can take into future work or personal projects."
