Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses are nationally accredited qualifications. Undertaking VET qualifications provides increased opportunities for students to connect with industry and school, ensures the focus and content of training is relevant, and that skills are developed to industry standards.
VET qualifications allow students to complete nationally recognised competencies through a Registered Training Organisation. This means the competencies obtained are recognised by industry and other training providers, such as TAFE. VET courses are offered off-campus, either after school or during a regular weekly training day at another school or training facility.
Students will also gain credit towards SACE requirements.
Students can earn 10 SACE credits for successfully completing 70 hours of VET. The documents whether the SACE credits earned for a particular VET qualification will be recognised at Stage 1 or Stage 2 in addition to the maximum credits awarded for individual certificates. VET qualifications can contribute to a maximum of 150 out of 200 required SACE credits.
VET options in the SACE encourage students to complete or make significant progress towards completing VET qualifications while completing SACE.
Please note that students who complete a Certificate III level training course can use this to help generate an ATAR score, required for tertiary entrance. Only one Certificate III course can be counted for ATAR generation.

Year 11 and 12 students can select a Flexible Industry Pathway (FIP) course which may run over 1-2 years. All VET courses require students to undertake a literacy and numeracy assessment and to provide evidence of their exposure to the industry. For more information, review here:
